Colorado Does Not Believe TABOR Refunds Should be Taxed

18 states await IRS guidance on stimulus checks

DENVER - Today, the Colorado Department of Revenue (CDOR) announced that it does not believe TABOR refunds like last year’s Colorado Cashback refund, should be subject to federal income tax. The Department made the statement in response to a February 3rd statement made by the IRS telling taxpayers to “wait until additional guidance is available” before filing their returns.

Colorado taxpayers impacted by Hurricane Ian now have until February 15, 2023, to file various individual and business tax returns and make tax payments, the Colorado Department of Revenue announced today. This decision mirrors the IRS decision to provide similar relief at the federal level.

Colorado Department of Revenue announces tax relief for Coloradans Impacted by Boulder County Fire

DENVER, Colo. - January 5, 2022 - The Colorado Department of Revenue (CDOR) understands some taxpayers will be unable to meet Colorado filing and payment deadlines as a result of the recent Marshall Fire. CDOR is offering relief on state-collected taxes to Colorado taxpayers who have been affected by the Marshall Fire. The tax relief measures will mirror IRS measures in the same declared disaster area. 

Colorado Department of Revenue announces tax relief for tornado victims

DENVER, Colo. - January 3, 2022 - The Colorado Department of Revenue (CDOR) understands some taxpayers will be unable to meet Colorado filing and payment deadlines as a result of the recent tornadoes in Kentucky, Illinois and Tennessee. CDOR is offering relief on state-collected taxes to Colorado taxpayers who have been affected by the tornadoes in those three states, as well as other recent disasters where the IRS extended filing or payment relief.

Colorado Department of Revenue’s Geographic Information System (GIS) is now available on the myColorado™ mobile app

LAKEWOOD, August 9, 2021 — The Colorado Department of Revenue announced today that the Geographic Information System (GIS), built as part of the Sales and Use Tax System, is now available on the myColorado™ mobile app, the State of Colorado’s official mobile app™. The mobile GIS allows you to use your smartphone’s GPS location to help determine the sales tax rate at your location. 

Until now,  businesses and individuals could only look up the specific sales tax rate for an individual address or map location using a desktop or laptop.
