Closing a Liquor Excise Tax Account
A Monthly Report of Excise Tax for Alcohol Beverages, DR 0442, is required to be filed for all periods that a manufacturer, distributor, or wholesaler liquor license is active. A liquor license must be expired, closed, or surrendered before your liquor excise tax account can be closed. Contact the Liquor and Tobacco Enforcement Division to close or surrender your liquor license.
If your liquor license has expired and has not been renewed, you should also close your liquor excise tax account. Your liquor excise tax account should be closed effective the last day of the month in which your liquor license expired/closed. To close your liquor excise tax account, log into your Revenue Online Account and follow these steps:
- Click on "Additional Actions" in the Liquor Excise account box
- Click on "Cease Account"
- Enter the Closure Date (MM/DD/YYYY). Choose the last day of the month in which your liquor license has expired
- Select required Closure Reason
- Click submit when you have finished
If you are not able to close your account through Revenue Online, complete the Business Closure Form, DR 1108 (see Forms in Number Order).
