Return Filing
The Firearms & Ammunition Tax Returns must be filed electronically through Revenue Online. Tax returns are due monthly on the 20th of the month following the reporting period. When the 20th is on a weekend or state holiday, the due date is the next business day. Returns must be filed even if no tax is due for that month. Unlike the sales tax, the statute does not provide for less frequent filing by vendors with a location in Colorado and smaller tax liabilities.
How To File & Amend Returns
See the Firearms & Ammunition Tax Return Instructions.
Payment
The firearms & ammunition tax is required to be paid electronically. This can be done using Revenue Online. A penalty of the greater of $50 or 5% of the tax applies on payments that are not made electronically. For additional information on payment options, see the Payment Information page.
