SUTS overhaul simplifies state’s tax landscape

LAKEWOOD, Colo. - Thursday, January 23, 2025 —  The Colorado Department of Revenue, Taxation Division announced major improvements to its Sales and Use Tax System (SUTS).

SUTS now has a host of new features that shorten the time needed to file sales and use tax down considerably while simplifying the filing process for businesses.

SUTS now has a streamlined and simplified design that allows users to easily navigate the system. SUTS users can now:

  • Determine sales tax jurisdictions and rates for thousands of addresses at a time for all taxing entities associated with a valid Colorado address
  • Enter data directly into SUTS in addition to uploading a simple spreadsheet, and
  • Add locations in SUTS

This new functionality streamlines the process for businesses.

“The new improvements to SUTS make filing and remitting sales and use tax much easier,” said Taxation Division Senior Director Brendon Reese. “SUTS is fast, accurate, and free to use. With these updates, we are improving the services we offer to Coloradans.”

For those interested in learning about SUTS, the Department is hosting a webinar:

  • January 30, from 1 to 3 p.m.

Registration is free but needed to attend the webinar.
