Marijuana sales pass $1.1B, raise over $217M of tax revenue in 2025

DENVER - January 15, 2026 - The Colorado Department of Revenue (DOR) today announced that regulated marijuana sales surpassed $1 billion in 2025. This activity generated more than $217 million in tax and fee revenue for the state during the calendar year.

According to new monthly data, Coloradans have purchased over $1 billion of regulated marijuana in 2025. The state surpassed the $1 billion sales mark through October, which helped generate $217,962,481 in tax and fee revenue through November.

In its monthly marijuana sales and tax revenue report, DOR figures show that tax and fee revenue for November was $18,942,853, down slightly from October’s $19,165,884. Additionally, marijuana sales figures for October were $108,234,534, up from September’s $105,334,650.

The Department will publish complete 2025 tax and fee revenue figures in mid-February. Complete sales data for 2025 will be available in mid-March. Complete figures are available in the table below:

The Marijuana Sales Reports summarize total sales made by medical and retail marijuana stores monthly by county. The Marijuana Tax Reports show state tax and fee revenue collected monthly as posted in the Colorado state accounting system. Tax revenue comes from the state sales tax (2.9%) on marijuana sold in stores, the state retail marijuana sales tax (15%), and the state retail marijuana excise tax (15%) on wholesale sales/transfers of retail marijuana. Marijuana license and application fees generate the fee revenue.
