DENVER - July 16, 2026 - The Colorado Division of Taxation (TAX) today released the updated figures for marijuana tax and fee revenue for May 2026, alongside sales data for April 2026.
The state collected a total of $18,526,192 in marijuana tax and fee revenue during May 2026, down about $1.7 million from April’s total of $20,274,456. This contributes to a 2026 calendar year total of $94,982,604. Since February 2014, the state has collected a cumulative total of $3,204,950,444 in taxes and fees.
Marijuana sales for April 2026 totaled $105,079,012, a decrease from the $108,781,994 in sales recorded for March 2026. Since January 2014, cumulative marijuana sales in Colorado have reached $18,635,226,311. Complete figures are available in the table below:

The Marijuana Sales Reports summarize total sales made by medical and retail marijuana stores monthly by county. The Marijuana Tax Reports show state tax and fee revenue collected monthly as posted in the Colorado state accounting system. Tax revenue comes from the state sales tax (2.9%) on marijuana sold in stores, the state retail marijuana sales tax (15%), and the state retail marijuana excise tax (15%) on wholesale sales/transfers of retail marijuana. Marijuana license and application fees generate the fee revenue.
