Mandatory Electronic Filing Notice
Due to rule 39-21-119.5-6, IFTA carriers are required to start filing and paying their IFTA returns through Revenue Online according to the following schedule:

| 80,000 or more miles driven in 2025 | 3/31/2026 |
| 25,000 or more miles driven in 2026 | 3/31/2027 |
| All licensees are required to file electronically | 3/31/2028 |
The penalty for not filing or paying electronically when required is the greater of $50 or 5% of the tax due. Go to Colorado.gov/RevenueOnline to sign up and file your IFTA return.
Contacting the Fuel Unit
The best way to reach the Fuel Unit is through web messages from your Revenue Online account. Please allow us 24 hours to respond. Multiple inquiries reduce our ability to respond quickly.
- Send us a web message through Revenue Online and Attach a copy of the vehicle registration and any required form to the web message. (These are usually worked within 24 hours.)
- Call us at 303-205-8205 option 1. Phone calls are usually answered within a few rings.
Decal Requests
- The IFTA Decal Replacement Request, form DR 7053, is required to request replacement decals.
- The IFTA Temporary Decal may be carried for up to 30 days in lieu of displaying the annual decals. The temporary decal is vehicle-specific, and it must be carried with a copy of your license to be valid for all member jurisdictions. IFTA Articles of Agreement, effective 1/1/2026, *R650.
Reminder
- The requirements for Colorado IFTA are that operational control and records be maintained in Colorado, the carrier regularly travels into/out of Colorado, and the carrier has Colorado-registered vehicles.
- The Department will mail IFTA licenses and decals to Colorado addresses.
- The Department issues notices and decals by mail. To ensure your decals and notices are received timely, verify your mailing address is accurate. The easiest way to verify your
Mail Not Received or Returned:
The United States Postal Service does not forward mail from the Colorado Department of Revenue. If your address has changed, you must update your address with the Department. If your mail is still not routed to you after the address has been updated, a prepaid FedEx label will be required.
